Data Provenance & Corrections

Profiles may be created from an authorised submission, an organisation’s official website, regulator or company filings, project disclosures, reputable public records, or a combination of these sources. Publication means that the record has passed an editorial completeness review; it is not an endorsement, accreditation, assurance opinion or independent verification.

What we record

Each managed profile records a last-reviewed date. We distinguish the organisation’s legal domicile from the African jurisdictions in which it materially operates or actively delivers services. Project profiles use an Eight-Domain Bankability Framework covering tenure, resource and reserve, development and FID, capital and funding, offtake, fiscal terms, community and resettlement, and evidence recency. Every populated bankability data point requires its own source and as-of date; unknown information is shown as not disclosed rather than estimated.

Review standard

Curators check that the organisation is identifiable, links point to the intended entity, required taxonomy fields are present, and material claims are internally consistent with the cited or submitted information. Source classification indicates what a record is capable of establishing; it does not turn an assertion into fact merely because it was published. We do not use a “Verified” badge because this process is editorial review, not third-party assurance.

Right of reply and corrections

Any named organisation or person may request a correction, provide updated evidence, ask for a response to be appended, or request review of personal information. Email directory@extractiveinsight.com with the profile URL, disputed text, proposed correction and supporting source. We will acknowledge the request, assess the evidence and record material amendments through the profile’s updated review date.

Conflicts and publisher self-listings

Extractive Insight LLC operates, publishes and curates Extractives Directory. Where Extractive Insight or an affiliated organisation is listed, the profile will disclose that relationship. Publisher and affiliate profiles follow the same taxonomy and corrections process, are not independently verified and receive no preferential ranking.

Important boundary

Directory records are informational profiles, not Extractive Insight licence-risk assessments, Tenure Risk Ratings, legal advice, investment advice, credit ratings or recommendations. A directory profile does not express a conclusion about the conduct of any government, authority, holder or other party.
