Privacy Notice
Effective 22 August 2026
Extractive Insight, acting through its United Kingdom company, operates Extractives Directory and is responsible for personal data collected through this website. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to directory@extractiveinsight.com.
Information we collect
Organisation submissions may include a contact name, work email, phone number, role, organisation details and the information supplied for publication. Curator accounts include account identifiers, names, work emails and access roles. We may also process limited technical and security information generated when the service is used.
Why we use it
We use personal data to assess submissions, contact submitters, maintain and correct profiles, administer curator access, secure the service and meet legal obligations. Submission contact details are not published unless the person has expressly asked for them to appear on a profile.
How information is handled
We process personal data only where there is an appropriate reason, including consent, responding to a request, operating and improving an accurate industry directory, protecting the service, or meeting a legal obligation. Information is available only to authorised staff and service providers needed to host, secure and operate the directory. Where data is transferred between countries, we use reasonable organisational, contractual and technical safeguards consistent with applicable data-protection and privacy requirements.
Retention
Declined or withdrawn submission contact records are deleted or anonymised within 24 months. Provenance records supporting a published listing are retained while that listing is active and for up to 24 months afterwards. Security logs are retained for up to 12 months, unless a longer period is required to investigate an incident or comply with law.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask what personal data we hold about you, request access or correction, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or request deletion. Email us with enough information to identify your record and request. You may also raise a concern with the relevant data-protection or privacy authority in your jurisdiction where that right is available.
