Its principal African operations include the Kamoa–Kakula Copper Complex and Kipushi Mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Platreef Mine in South Africa and Western Forelands exploration.
Kamoa Copper S.A.
Kamoa Copper S.A. operates the Kamoa–Kakula Copper Complex in Lualaba Province, approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Kolwezi. The operation comprises high-grade underground copper mines, three concentrators and a large direct-to-blister copper smelter, with production underway alongside phased expansion.

Metso provides sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and lifecycle services for minerals processing, aggregates and metals refining. At Kamoa–Kakula, Metso supplied key equipment, automation and digital solutions for the direct-to-blister copper smelter and anode casting operation.
Ministry of Mines — Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Ministry of Mines of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is responsible for national mining policy, mining legislation, geological information, investment promotion and technical oversight of mining activities. Its services include the mining cadastre and specialist public agencies.
Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd.
Zijin Mining is a global mining group engaged in the exploration and production of copper, gold, zinc, lithium, silver and molybdenum, supported by in-house research and engineering capabilities. The group is a joint-venture partner in the Kamoa–Kakula Copper Complex.
